Nominate Your Committer Reps

You have time till this Saturday (Januar 13th) to nominate your committer representative candidate for 2007. There are four seats on the Eclipse Board of Directors for them.

Wassim recently blogged his comments on the accomplishments of the current elected representatives and I have to agree with him that it is very difficult to get updates about their activities in 2006. Actually, the only information available today was posted a few days after Wassim’s post to the Eclipse website. Thankfully this was done as an open process so the community could recognize that the minutes were posted.

However, with all due respect to the elected committer representatives, I’m not sure what I should think about the two short paragraphs in the June and September meeting minutes. Basically, they say that there are no significant issues and the committer community is getting happier.

Is that really true?

A few years back I remember that the committer representatives at that time asked for input on the committer mailing list periodically. I remember that there was even a survey to collect all the wishes and prioritize them. But I do not remember any of those for the last year (except a post from Scott asking for input on the revised development process). So how would you know that there are no significant issues?

Anyway, I just wish that the next representatives would be a bit more active in that area. A survey and a blog post once in a while would make me very happy. You can even use a blog to gather feedback and input on committer issues.

If you are an Eclipse Committer you can nominate any other Eclipse Committer now!
