Release Complete
Friday, January 11th, 2008, 19:37:01 +0200, Gunnar WagenknechtI don’t know if anybody recognized this at all but I have been very quiet the last weeks. Over the past 39 weeks my wife and I have been very busy developing our fork. Today we released it out into the world.

Although you never know what the future brings you I’m proud to say that this was the best release I participated in ever. It’s running great, absolutely healthy. Same is true for the release engineer Janett. I can’t express how much I love them both.

I trust that you’ve done your incubation exit review and that your IP log is up to date! If not, we’ll have to remove the Eclipse logo from her lovely photo, and we’d hate to have to do that. You must be very proud.

Gunnar,
first of all — congratulations on your beautiful girl! However, I must caution you against prematurely celebrating the _completion_ of your release — I’m afraid you’re in for quite a surprise if you think you’re done. While I’m sure the “development” phase was a lot of fun
I guarantee you the real work has just started. I’m talking about the maintenance phase, which for this kind of “product” is literally endless, rather costly, but generally quite rewarding
You do have to expect to be on call 24/7, and there are no coffee breaks…
Seriously, it’s the best job one could ask for. Have fun and all the best to your family.

Really a sweet little girl. Have much fun with your new “boss”!
