Don’t believe me? Checkout this. But seriously, I share some of the concerns Doug raised. You know what, I really wonder how that works out with the processes we currently have in place. Let’s take for example the Eclipse IP policy. It requires that stuff is maintained on Eclipse.org infrastructure. Do our webmasters need to install and maintain their own cloud?

Runtime Symposium
I’m sitting in the RT symposium and it’s a nice group. It’s not too crowded. Unfortunately, there weren’t many position papers. I think that’s a bad. Putting together a position paper is not too much work. Everybody attending a symposium should do so.
Anyway, the agenda that Jeff, Martin and Heiko came up with is great. Based on some questions they asked before the symposium they defined topics and also attached time slots to it. At the end, there will be a fishbowl. I don’t know what that is but Jeff’s description sounded interesting.
The crowd is mixed. There are people from many different countries and companies and I heard one guy saying Microsoft. It’s also great to see a lot new faces which actually means that the topic is really attracting new people. 🙂
Wrong user.home?
Ever wondered why Eclipse (or any Java app) is still pointing to your old Windows profile (eg. after renaming or copying it)? It’s a known JRE bug. They use a Windows registry entry for setting the user.home property.
I just had that upps effect with RSSOwl. All my blogs were gone after removing the old profile dir which I haven’t used for months (I moved out of a Windows domain severel weeks ago).
EPL Now Available @ Google Code
I previously blogged about this. It wasn’t possible to select EPL as your project license when hosting your project at Google Code. Yes, no typo … it wasn’t.
They changed their mind. Hooray!
It’s time for a Stammtisch!
Yay! Ralph Mueller is in town so it’s time for a Stammtisch! Some weeks ago, I invited Ralph to Jena – the eCommerce captial of Germany.
Monday, July 14th @ 7pm
Cafe Stilbruch, Wagnergasse
(Google Maps)
Ralph will have a talk about the Eclipse Foundation and Open Source in general. I also invited him to get to know the TowerByte e.G. TowerByte is a consortium of 22 companies here at Jena all working together in the Jena Tower doing some crazy cool stuff with programming.
The talk will be in the 29th floor of the Jena Tower at 4pm. After that there will be time for a nice Q&A session. The Stammstisch is scheduled for 7pm at the Cafe Stilbruch.
